The Plant Operator functions as the power plant technician and site equipment operator for all cogeneration equipment associated with electrical power, steam and hot water services. Responsibilities include executing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all cogeneration equipment.  Operates a 1 to 5 megawatt reciprocating power plant, steam boiler and cogeneration equipment, meeting operation plans and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment.  Duties involve gathering technical information, planning scheduled repairs, responding to emergency outages, performing all aspects of plant equipment and control repairs and acceptance procedures, performing functional tests and evaluating test results.  Operator will work closely with other project team members controlling operational cost. Operator is responsible for complying with safety programs and vendor recommendations. Operator is responsible for monitoring emission performance and responding to all equipment alarms providing timely repairs. To effectively perform these functions, the Operator exercises a considerable degree of independent discretion and judgment, subject to periodic review and evaluation.
