EPS Energy Management Solution to Help Leading Dairy Producer Achieve Sustainability Goals
Costa Mesa, CA – November 2, 2010 – EPS Corp today announced that Land O’Lakes, Inc., a national, farmer-owned food and agricultural cooperative, has made significant strides towards its sustainability goals through a strategic energy partnership with EPS.
With an ongoing commitment to conserving natural resources and doing more with less, Land O’Lakes acknowledges the critical roles that sound science and technology play in achieving long-term environmental sustainability. To achieve success, the company sought to add an energy intelligence system that would enable it to continuously understand, monitor and reduce its energy use and carbon emissions. Land O’ Lakes selected EPS as its strategic energy partner to help the company meet its quest to reduce energy per pound of product produced, carbon emissions and water usage by 25 percent by 2020.
EPS worked with Land O’Lakes to create the Land O’Lakes Energy Management System (LEMS), a standards-based strategic system for guiding and achieving its energy reduction goals. EPS is currently leading the implementation of the enterprise-wide energy management program and the LEMS recommendations across Land O’Lakes dairy facilities and feed plants. These initiatives are designed to help Land O’Lakes build upon the energy and carbon reductions that the company has already realized across its operations. Land O’Lakes achieved a significant energy improvement per unit produced in 2009 vs. the 2008 baseline in dairy foods production.
EPS Corp helps Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies to reduce energy use, water use and carbon emissions through the EPS Way®, a systematic approach to energy management that utilizes real-time, enterprise-wide data, coupled with energy expertise. EPS analysts evaluate the energy information and work with the customer to recommend and implement the most effective sustainability initiatives that support efficient production and deliver financially compelling results.
“Since beginning our relationship with EPS, we have seen very positive results in curtailing our energy usage and carbon emissions,” said Ken Litke, VP Operations and Supply Chain, at Land O’Lakes. “We’re looking forward to continued success as we work toward achieving our overall corporate sustainability goals.”
“We’re very pleased to see that the EPS Way energy management approach is embraced by such a strong leader in sustainability,” said Jay Zoellner, Chief Executive Officer of EPS Corp. “Without a doubt, a key component to our success has been the commitment of Land O’ Lakes people working collaboratively with us toward their sustainability goals. Our working relationship demonstrates the positive impact that smart solutions and great teamwork can have on achieving energy, carbon, water and financial savings. We’re looking forward to continuing to deliver strong results for Land O’Lakes.”
